Signature

A student email signature that says just enough

Your name, program and year, your school and a link or two: everything a professor, recruiter or lab needs to place you. Copy it as rich text for Gmail, Outlook or Apple Mail, or as plain text.

“Dark inbox” shows the colors exactly as sent. Some mail apps adjust colors in dark mode; mid-tone accents stay readable on both.

Want to see it as a recipient would? Paste the signature into a new email and send a test to a free disposable inbox at CleanTempMail: no sign-up, and the message deletes itself after 3 days.

Adding it to your mail app

Click Copy signature, then paste it into your mail app's signature editor. Most school accounts run on Google or Microsoft, so one of the first two usually applies.

  • Gmail (web): Settings (the gear) → See all settings → General → Signature → Create new. Paste, then click Save Changes at the bottom of the page.
  • Outlook (web and new Outlook): Settings → Account → Signatures. Paste and save.
  • Apple Mail (Mac): Mail → Settings → Signatures, choose your account and click +. If the formatting changes when you paste, untick “Always match my default message font”.

If rich copy doesn't work in your browser, use Copy plain text: a text signature works everywhere.

What to include

Keep it to three to five short lines: name, program and year, school, and one or two links. Pronouns are optional. Skip quotes, images and your home address. A phone number is only worth adding if you want people to call you. Some schools have signature guidelines or rules about using their name and logo, so check yours if you plan to add anything official.

The layouts use plain text and simple inline styles, so they survive forwarding and look the same in light and dark mail apps. The main text has no fixed color, which lets dark-mode inboxes show it in a light color.
